One of Nike’s genre-defining sneakers from the mid-90s returns in full force as the Oregon-based sportswear giant shifts its attention to reviving some cult classic sneakers from past decades. The Nike Air Footscape Woven is one of Nike’s unique footwear innovations, released in 1996. Developed by the Nike Sport Research Lab and designed by Tory Orzeck, the shoe mimics natural foot motion with its asymmetrical lacing system and swirly woven panels encompassing the upper. This “Night Maroon” colourway flaunts its titular hue with a dark-based upper, with lighter shades wrapping the woven details.
After re-releasing models like the Air Adjust Force and Air Humara, Nike taps another ‘90s silhouette back into the release roster. The Nike Air Footscape Woven has an unconventional design, enough to stir curiosity in the sneaker scene. Last seen in 2018, the shoe returns to bolster Nike’s growing lifestyle roster. This colourway flaunts a dark maroon suede base, with lighter maroon shades on the woven overlays from front to back. The overall design poses similarities to the Air Footscape Desert Chukka “Deep Garnet” from 2014. Contrasting white hues envelop the plush foam midsole, while the rubber outsole maintains the “Night Maroon” pigment to complete the design.
