Air Jordan 1 High OG Lucky Green

It’s been almost five years since we’ve seen the Air Jordan 1 High take on green, with fans eager for another classic take using the hue. Since Michael Jordan himself isn’t a fan of the colour green on his sneakers, it’s only been in the last two decades that we’ve seen Jordan Brand explore this side of the colour wheel. However, back in 2018, the Air Jordan 1 High “Pine Green” released, becoming a popular drop that year and an indicator that sneakerheads were keen for more. Rewind to 2009 and this exact colourway debuted as part of the Defining Moments (DMP) Pack, dropping alongside a "Bred" edition which celebrated Jordan's 56 point game against the Celtics on April 20th 1986.

In 2020, Jordan Brand followed up with a women’s exclusive Air Jordan 1 “Lucky Green" which sneakerheads dubbed ‘The Heinekens’ due to its resemblance to the Dunk from 2003. Now bringing back classic, green-inspired tooling to the Air Jordan 1 is this “Lucky Green” edition in 2023, previously known as the “Celtic” colourway and releasing on April 15th.

Using the same colour-blocking as previous OG make-ups like the AJ1 "Black Toe", the upper uses the traditional mix of black and white, with green here being the accenting colour. Black leather forms the ankle collar, eyelets and down onto the toe guard, broken up by a set of contrasting green laces. White on the midsole, toe box and sidewall throw it back to the ‘80s, a time when white leather and basketball shoes went hand-in-hand like carrots and peas. Matching the motif is the outsole underfoot, swallowing up the AJ1 tread and star count in a similar shade of green.
