The year was 1989. It was Game 5 of the 1989 NBA Playoffs and the Chicago Bulls were playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers. With seconds left in the game, Michael Jordan took a shot that led to the Bulls winning over the Cavaliers 101 to 100. The moment is remembered as “The Shot” and the shoes he was wearing were the Air Jordan 4 “Black Cement”. And now, Jordan Brand has a smaller-sized retro release of the silhouette, the Air Jordan 4 Retro GS “Red Cement”.
This smaller-sized AJ4 is inspired by the classic “White Cement” colourway but switches out the grey accents with fire red. The upper is clean white all throughout, from the smooth leather base, the tumbled leather overlays and the netting on the toe and mid-panels. The wings lacing support systems are black, matching the sock liner and the insoles. The speckled fire red accents adorn the upper and are repeated on the Jumpman logos on the tongues and insoles. A black and white midsole with exposed Air units at the heel and a white, black and red rubber outsole wrap up the design of this sneaker.
