After a brief hiatus from the Air Max line, size? make a strong return to form with this upcoming Nike Air Max 1 collaboration. The two have consistently raised the bar over the years, with projects like the “20 for 20” Air Max 95 and Air Force 1 “Manchester” offering high-quality storytelling as per usual. A well-respected back catalogue of Air Max 1s such as the “Safari” and “Dusk” from ’18 set the bar high for this “Brown Stone” iteration, yet the pair looks all set to vault target given the high buzz surrounding the drop. Rewinding the clock back to 2005, the retailer sets its eyes on the cult favourite Considered range (once code-named “Eco Tech”) for inspiration, delivering premium storytelling once again.

Compared to critical opinions of the original Considered range which got nicknamed “Air Hobbits”, size?’s take has received a positive reception, garnering huge attention across social media ahead of its 29th of September release date. We experienced a taste of the eco-friendly design language in the summer of ’23 with the arrival of Jacquemus’ second Nike collaboration, a collection that waned in excitement compared to his execution of the Air Humara. Surprisingly, this does not ring true for this size? x Nike Air Max 1 as the buzz starts to build among the crowds of different sneakerheads.

The palette is formed out of a heavy set of earthy browns and stone greys, with a mixture of textures gracing the panelling on the ’86 silhouette. A hairy brown suede is employed as the underlay, contrasted by a stone grey leather which is delicately stitched on top, two shades typically seen across the Considered product range. Similar to the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll” and “Purple Denim” pairs from 2009, the mudguard is crafted from dark brown faux denim that sets the tone for the rest of the upper. The midsole is decked out in a muted grey and accompanying black Air unit, playing into the subtle hues across the upper.
