The Air Afrique x Nike Air Max RK61 “Coconut Milk” pays homage to the defunct Pan-African airline of the same name. Founded by several Parisian creatives, the collective Air Afrique takes its name from the original aviation company owned by various West African countries, which operated from 1961 until 2002. The brand-new loafer commemorates Afro-diasporic heritage, infused with Nike’s innovative technologies and a runway-ready design to elevate your wardrobe.
Clad in a clean beige hue, this RK61 features a premium suede and durable leather construction with a midfoot zipper inspired by the Air Max SNDR. The exquisite textures on the inner lining and stunning graphics on the sockliner resemble the aircraft’s plane seat design, a significant detail highlighted in the campaign starring Côte d’Ivoire football icon Didier Drogba. A debossed mini Swoosh adorns the lateral quarter, complementing the Nike label on the tongue and the co-branding on the insole. The green Max Air bubble in the heel serves as an engine to provide comfort and shock absorption. A subtle Morse code on the waffle sole caps off the storytelling elements on this shoe. This iteration includes a special-edition box and a lovely dust bag to commemorate the partnership.
Releasing on the 30th of September via the Nike SNKRS app and select UK retailers, you can find out where to buy the Air Afrique x Nike Air Max RK61 “Coconut Milk” by keeping it locked to The Sole Supplier!
