Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Design By Japan

Nike is back with another “Design By Japan” creation following the inaugural release in early 2023 featuring the Air Max 1. Set to drop in women’s sizing like the previous edition, the distinctive Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Design By Japan” reimagines the iconic retro trainer with premium Japanese craftsmanship paying homage to the late brand co-founder Bill Bowerman, who helped revolutionise modern running shoes.

Veering from the Zoom Vomero 5’s typical mesh uppers, this special-edition colourway flaunts an ivory leather underlay. Hairy suede overlays replace the synthetic and leather panels, establishing an old-school aesthetic. Black oversized Swooshes decorate the sidewalls, accompanied by reflective blue pull tabs representing Blue Ribbon Sports. The TPU midfoot cage and heel counter feature smooth, semi-translucent surfaces, a notable change from their usual geometric structures.

Light blue and beige hues combine to form the Cushlon foam midsole, which carries Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel for maximum propulsion. Black and brown shades highlight the flexible waffle sole underfoot. Co-branded graphic sockliners showcase Bill Bowerman in the process of making a trainer. The shoe includes extra white and light blue laces to personalise the look, along with a photograph of Bill Bowerman printed onto the sockliners, paying tribute to the legendary Nike co-founder.
