PUMA rolls out with its Velophasis silhouette, delivering another chunky shoe for the rotation. We have glimpsed UK artist Skepta lacing up a pair of PUMA Velophasis "Always On" during his visit to Paris Fashion Week FW23, giving this blacked out make-up all the attention it deserves.
The Velophasis was the footwear of choice amongst Skepta and his STEELO entourage, a shoe that looks like PUMA’s answer to the technical runner. The mesh-heavy upper and grid pattern draws on similarities to likes of Nike’s Zoom Vomero 5 , ASICS’ Gel-1130 and New Balance’s 530 , all of which compete for that lightweight runner spot on your rotation. This simple colourway also reveals 3M detailing and a gum outsole, creating a strong debut for the silhouette. That being said, we aren’t sure if this is a collaborative pair between Skepta or his Big Smoke Records label, or even if it was just a marketing stunt to create hype for this new general release pair from PUMA. What we do know is that the Velophasis marks a solid start for the German-footwear brand’s 2023 roster.
