Reebok and Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson are running it all the way back to the noughties, dipping into the archives for the return of a bonafied streetwear icon in the G-Unit G6.
£120.00
Originally launched back in 2003, the sneaker coincided with the release of Get Rich or Die Tryin’, a genre-defining record that saw 50 explode onto the scene and cement his legacy all but instantly.
The Reebok x G-Unit G6 bridged the gap between basketball-inspired footwear, hip-hop and street culture, becoming a staple of the early 2000s and marking a major shift in the relationship between fashion labels and artist-led collaborations.
What we created with Reebok had a real impact on sneaker culture, and it's incredible to see that influence still resonate more than 20 years later
More than two decades on, the G6 reemerges from the Reebok vault, returning in its original red, white and blue colourway. Dropping on August 20, the shoe features a premium leather and suede upper, a durable rubber midsole and an icy rubber outsole.
Speaking about the reissue, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson said: “The G-Unit sneaker represents a special time in my career and in hip-hop. What we created with Reebok had a real impact on sneaker culture, and it's incredible to see that influence still resonate more than 20 years later. I'm excited to bring it back for the people who were there the first time and a whole new generation.”
"Our relationship with 50 has always gone beyond sneakers,” added Todd Krinsky, CEO of Reebok. “He helped define an important chapter in Reebok's history, and together we created something that had a lasting impact on sport style and culture. Bringing the G-Unit G6 back is an opportunity to celebrate that legacy while introducing it to a new generation."
