A Closer Look at the Melody Ehsani x Air Jordan Womens
Following on from her 2019 Air Jordan 1 Mid, Melody Ehsani is collaborating with Jordan brand again to bring fans the Melody Ehsani x Air Jordan Womens silhouette. A recently revived silhouette that’s being dropped in honour of Women’s History Month, this bold-yet-wearable sneaker means more to Ehsani than you might think.
In 1991, an 11-year-old Melody Ehsani wrote a letter to Magic Johnson challenging the fact that girls weren’t allowed to attend his summer basketball camp. In 1996, the WNBA was created and in 1998, Jumpman released its first women’s shoe. So, not only is this particular iteration imbued with the history of women’s basketball, it represents Ehsani’s personal connection to her favourite sport.
The Jordan sneaker itself boasts a black and red base and reflective piping in a wavy pattern on the sides. A cherry appliqué takes pride of place on the toe box and is notable thanks to its representation of abundance, fertility and protection – which Ehsani is officially passing on to other women who wear these shoes.
Undeniably a shoe that offers more than just functionality and comfort, the Melody Ehsani x Air Jordan Womens is rich in history and an absolute must cop in our opinion. Set to drop later this month, keep it locked into The Sole Supplier to be the first to know when these are available!
On the topic of Jordan news, the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 “Bred” is rumoured to release later this year! Find out more…
