If you happen to know anything about adidas' Spezial range, you'll know that both its apparel and footwear offerings tend to be quite a big deal among the label's cult following. In preparation for the sub-label's autumn/winter '23 launch, chief curator of adidas Spezial Gary Aspden has been blessing and inundating us with all the footwear from the collection via his Instagram, giving us a detailed preview of what's to come.
With a number of silhouettes already revealed and perhaps more to arrive, the collection is already looking expansive. So, without further ado, let's get into it.
First up, we have the Blondey Winterhill SPZL. Arriving in a collaborative fashion with Palace Skateboards alumni and Thames owner Blondey McCoy, the Blondey Winterhill SPZL honours the shoe's archival design language while adding a contemporary twist. Dressed in an olive hue with lilac tints, this model is nothing short of unique.
This model is available now via the Thames website and is expected to land on adidas' site on Saturday, the 11th of November.
Up next is the Lawkholme SPZL - a dressed-down take on adidas' retro additions. Born to have an adidas identity without being solely reliant on the 3-Stripes and Trefoils signatures, this model features a stripeless upper crafted from what looks to be quality leather and suede. Delivering a sophisticated look and feel, this model will no doubt prove a hit among Spezial fans.
Releasing November 16th, be sure to set a release reminder so you don't miss your opportunity to get your hands on this one.
With the Samba arguably the silhouette of 2023, this Samba Deco SPZL is bound to attract both newer and older fans of the Spezial crowd. Similar to the Lawkholme SPZL, this model takes a reduced approach to styling. The usual Samba toe overlay has been removed and replaced with a deco stitch reminiscent of the adidas Baltic. Dressed in a tasteful brown hue with contrasting white details, this pair is the ultimate autumnal Samba.
This pair will be released on November 16th via adidas Confirmed and Spezial stockists.
After releasing in November of 2022, the first Moscrop SPZL immediately found popularity among the Spezial crowd, so it's only right a second iteration should be released this season. Continuing with the winterised theme of the OG trekking shoe, this model features a Cordura base, additional eyelets, and a chunkier outsole.
This pair is releasing on the 16th of November via adidas Confirmed and Spezial stockists.
In continuation of the hiking theme, we have the Inverness SPZL. A new model under the Spezial banner, the Inverness SPZL takes inspiration from the Carnforth SPZL as a robust winter staple. Featuring a 'T' toe overlay, single stitching, and a 2-level eyestay, this model is ideal from the hilltops to the highstreets.
In addition, this pair will be released on November 16th through the adidas Confirmed app and Spezial stockists.
Fronting the hybrid portion of footwear silhouettes, we have the Hiaven SPZL. Inspired by a pair of Trekking Hi, this latest model featured a triple-black makeup, suitable for pairing with some of the AW23 apparel. Details arrive in the form of a debossed Mod Trefoil in the mudguard at the heel and a tonal 3-Stripes on the lateral walls. On the inside, an inbuilt adi-Tex membrane helps to protect the wearer from adverse weather conditions making this shoe ideal for daily wear.
Just like previous additions, this shoe will be released on the 16th of November from adidas Confirmed and stockists of the Spezial range.
Accompanying its brown counterpart, yet another Samba Deco SPZL has been produced. Unlike the other version, this model sports a stealthy black hue, contrasted by a loud green on the 3-Stripes and heel tab. Atop the tongue, we see a 'the brand with the three stripes' note in English and German, a reference to a rare pair of vintage West German-made Sambas that Gary bought recently.
In case you haven't noticed a theme yet, this model will also be released on the 16th of November via adidas confirmed and selected Spezial stockists.
So there you have it, the full lineup so far! We'll be continuing to update this piece if any other models are unveiled, so remember to keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest. Don't forget to set release reminders also to be in with the best chance of securing these models.
