A Dior x Birkenstock Collaboration Is on the Way

Not only are collabs really all the rage right now, but it also seems that brands are finally waking up to the slip-on clog hype. Hot off the back of yet another Crocs x Balenciaga link-up, French fashion house, Dior, have teamed up with Birkenstock to send a number of shoes down the runway at Dior Men’s AW22 show. But this isn’t the first high fashion collab that Birkenstock have been involved with either – the sandal brand recently partnered with the likes of Jil Sander and Rick Owens for some elevated takes on their classic styles.

Of course, in true Dior fashion, the house’s senior footwear designer Thibo Denis made it his mission to transform the rugged-looking Birk into a real thing of beauty. On the day of the show, he took to Instagram to preview a closer look at the five incredibly luxe-looking designs. Coming dressed in muted shades of grey, beige and chocolate brown, the shoes look to be made of the finest suede and soft felt, and feature rubber toecaps and ALYX-style rollercoaster buckles for added edge. One pair is also adorned with a delicate flower pattern, which is said to have been done by Dior’s couturiers. Underfoot, the Dior x Birkenstock clogs are made from Birkenstock’s usual cork base, which molds to your feet over time for added comfort. For an extra luxe touch, the outsole is monogrammed with Dior’s logo, which fades into Birkenstock’s usual pattern to tie the collab together.

As Dior Men’s and Women’s collections are spearheaded by two different designers, it is looking unlikely that these will drop in women’s sizes.
