Louis Vuitton are set to drop their long-awaited Nike Air Force 1 collaboration very soon, in the form of a Sothebys benefit auction. Following the untimely death of LV Artistic Director and Nike collaborator Virgil Abloh late last year, two hundred pairs of the limited-edition Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers will go on sale via sothebys.com to raise money for Abloh’s “Post Modern” scholarship fund for Black fashion students.
The auctioned pairs are set to arrive in an exclusive colourway, dressed in LV’s signature brown Monogram and tan calf leather piping. For contrast, the toe box, heel tab and Nike Swoosh are done-up in the fashion house’s Damier pattern. To distinguish the pairs from regular Air Force 1s, the shoes were made with materials used in Abloh’s LV men’s collections, and incorporated details from his other label Off-White, and the brand’s previous collaborations with Nike. These details can be seen on the laces, where quotation marks surround the words “LACETS,” and on the sole, which sees the word “AIR” stamped on the side.
Each pair will come with an exclusively designed orange leather case, which is decorated with an all-over embossed LV Monogram. The case comes complete with a matching orange 3D tag and white Swoosh on the top.
If you’re looking to get your hands on this particular pair, the Sothebys online auction is set to run from January 26 to Feb. The shoes will be available in sizes 5-18, with prices starting at $2000. Louis Vuitton have said that the auction will proceed a more commercial launch of the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, which will be exclusively available in limited quantities through the Louis Vuitton store network.
