Jordan Brand continues to celebrate its rich legacy with the return of an iconic OG colourway. The latest release is the highly anticipated Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Royal,” first unveiled by DJ Chase B, a close associate of Travis Scott.
This marks the first authentic revival of the black and royal blue design since 2017. While the 2023 “Royal Reimagined” featured suede materials, the upcoming iteration stays true to its original roots with classic leather construction, offering a faithful tribute to the sneaker’s 1985 debut.
Fun fact: the High ’85 cut originally played wingman for non OG colourways like “Varsity Red” and “Georgetown.” However, Jordan Brand has since shifted focus, reserving this construction exclusively for authentic ’85 renditions, such as the eagerly awaited “Bred” edition.
The “Royal” iteration features clean black and royal blue leather panels, complemented by Nike Air branding on the tongue, delivering a timeless design that channels the essence of the original release.
Respected sneaker insider Kenneth Myers, better known as @MrUnloved1s, has confirmed the pair’s legitimacy. Chase B’s involvement as a member of Travis Scott’s inner circle further solidifies its authenticity.
As for the release date? It’s a bit of a cliffhanger. Chase B is betting on 2025, but Myers hints it could stretch into 2026. Either way, patience is key. Myers has been spot on before with teasers like the Jordan 11 “Gamma” and Jordan 11 “Rare Air”, so we’re keeping an eye out.
