For ten years, Gary Aspden and his team have been serving up a steady stream of reissues and new silhouettes that tap into the very essence of adidas’s past. Now, for the label’s tenth anniversary, adidas SPZL is taking a trip back to its roots, bringing together the worlds of football and streetwear. This limited edition SPZL F.C. collection pays tribute to the brand’s influence on football fan culture, dropping three special sneakers that every fan will want to get their hands on.
First up is the Mundial Team F.C., a turf boot reworked from the iconic 1979 design. This shoe is a genuine fusion of terrace culture and the pitch. The upper is made from black leather, with soft suede overlays and eye catching red details. An elongated tongue and gold foil branding honour both the Spezial legacy and adidas heritage. A brown EVA midsole provides a soft ride, while a lug outsole offers superb traction on the turf.
Next is the Copa Mundial F.C., a true pitch icon, now re imagined. This boot, crafted in Germany, refines a World Cup legend with its premium leather and striking red accents. The black leather upper features a quilted forefoot for improved ball control. White serrated three stripes sit on the sidewalls, with a gold “COPA SPZL” print on the lateral panel. The red studs on the outsole take inspiration from the Beckenbauer Super, matching the red plastic eyelets and heel tabs. This shoe honours adidas’s heritage, making it a must have for those who appreciate classic football style.
Last but not least is the Roelee F.C. sneaker. This hybrid model combines the suede upper of the Whalley and the tooling of the Gazelle. Paying homage to football club culture, this new take on the Roelee swaps the classic gum sole for a taped foxing and adds a suede tongue. The “F.C. Grey” makeup is at home both in the stands and on the street. A mix of suede, nubuck, and leather creates a multi layered, tonal grey look. Pinked edges on the lace bed add a vintage touch, and the gold SPZL emblem on the heel marks it as an official part of the collection.
