adidas has reportedly come to a decision over its remaining Yeezy stock.
According to Reuters, the German sportswear giant has decided to sell some of its leftover inventory, with part of the proceeds going to charity. The brand was sitting on over €1.2 billion euros worth of goods, and didn’t announce its plans during its last earnings call.
adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden has since addressed investors and confirmed the decision to sell.
"What we are trying to do now over time is to sell some of this merchandise ... burning the goods would not be a solution," he said, before adding that the 3-Stripes would look to donate proceeds to organisations supporting the communities Ye harmed with his comments.
Right now, it's unclear as to how much of the stock the brand has decided to sell, or when it plans to do so. If the goods are sold, Ye will reportedly receive 15% commission as part of a pre-agreed deal.
The CEO also defended the length of the Yeezy partnership, saying that "as difficult as was, he is perhaps the most creative mind in our industry." The partnership finally came to an end in October 2022, after Ye made a series of hate-speech-filled public rants.
