Remembering the late designer in the run up to the upcoming documentary, McQueen.

On 8th June, a brand new documentary on the late fashion genius' life will be hitting the screens. "McQueen";, directed and produced by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, is set to be full of footage of the British designer's life. From interviews with close friends and family to BTS home movies and highlights of his career.
A creative artist who, while battling his own demons, was able to translate his feelings into his brand. Blurring the lines between art and fashion, through the dark, McQueen managed to make a name for himself for being one of the most original designers of our time.
Below you can view the trailer for the new film, releasing on 8th June.
McQueen was an influential artist who climbed to the top by creating fashion that provoked reactions… every time. He explained about his shows "I don't wanna do a show feeling like you've just had Sunday lunch. I want you to feel repulsed or exhilarated";.

We have picked some highlights of fashion shows he curated, some of the most famous moments and some of the wackiest by far. We have also hand picked our most loved sneaker colour ways of his chunky trainers.
“No one discovered Alexander McQueen, McQueen discovered himself.”
"The Golden Shower"; S/S98
A display of McQueen's clothing along what seems like a plain runway. Near the end of the show, the lights turn gold to light up the water that starts raining down. A collection of white/cream clothing only is on the runway, contrasting with the "Golden Shower";. Towards the end, the extent of the rain can be seen by dress trains dragging through puddles.

"Joan"; F/W 1998
An explosive catwalk. Models walking beneath flickering, swaying lamps and on top of a loose, dirt type surface. The catwalk ends with a faceless woman, covered in red, surrounded by a ring that sets alight. McQueen walks down the runway for the finale in front of the rest of the returning models.
"No. 13"; S/S 1999
A very neutral coloured collection, models with hair all over their faces and walking around a large runway with 2 mechanical objects in the middle. Suddenly a woman, wearing an tulle strapless dress, spins around on a turn table. Robotic machines twist and move around as she does, spraying her white dress with neon yellow and black spray paint.

"VOSS"; S/S 2001
An amazing spectacle of an asylum based runway show. Many aspects of this catwalk are original and unexpected. Erin O'Connor breaking her dress apart at 03:45 and each of the models showing their own take on being inside "the asylum"; through their movements. One of the most abstract ends to one of McQueen's shows comes when the glass cube in the centre falls apart; glass breaking, moths flying out and a naked woman laying in the middle.
"It's Only A Game"; S/S 2005
Models start simply by walking onto a square shaped lit runway, each stopping in what seems like positions. By the end, the platform has filled up with girls stood in perfect rows, and then the floor light disappears. As the whole room goes dark, it then lights back up with a checkered effect, a chess board. What comes next brings a classic board game to life…
"Platos Atlantis"; S/S 2010
McQueens last ever runway show, "Platos Atlantis"; showcased the Armadillo Boot which was seen on Lady Gaga in her "Bad Romance"; video. This show also showcased Gaga's song for the first time in the finale. The obscure armadillo shaped heel was made in an array of materials from reptile skins to gems. It seriously made an impact in the fashion world when first seen 8 years ago.
