Renowned streetwear designer and KENZO Artistic Director NIGO is set to team up with Levi’s for the duo’s third collection. Set to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the brand’s iconic 501 jeans, the collab acknowledges NIGO’s love for vintage denim by allowing him to reimagine styles from his personal collection.
Keeping things simple, NIGO has lent his hand to two staple styles - the first of course being the 501, and the second being at matching Trucker Jacket. To add to the premium nature of the collab, the 501 jeans come crafted from specially-designed selvedge denim, and feature classic detailing such as the iconic red tabs, and back pocket stitching. The matching 557XX Trucker Jacket is finished in a similar fashion, utilising the same archival-inspired hardware and arriving pre-shrunk for the perfect fit.
Both pieces are set to drop in the same Hickory Stripe pattern, a nod to NIGO’s favourite archive pair. “I found the original Hickory Stripe 501® at a vintage store in 1995 and haven’t seen it reproduced since then. Using the past as my reference book, I am honoured to bring this archival 501® back during the 150th anniversary,” says NIGO.”
Made in Japan using traditional techniques, the collection is set to drop worldwide on the 6th of April online at Levi’s and Human Made. In other fashion news, Carhartt WIP joins forces with Awake NY for a new collection.
