HAL STUDIOS and ASICS are back, and frankly, this duo currently carries the entire "collaborative integrity" torch on its back. Forget the over hyped neon eyesores of last year. The new GEL-NYC 2.0 SSHS marks the debut of the H.S.D.T. Signature Series, and it’s a masterclass in what happens when adults enter the design room.
While most brands just slap a new coat of paint on a retro runner, Bouquet treats footwear like urban sociology. This pack, titled “The Architecture of Everyday Life,” finds beauty in the grit. Think scaffolding, oxidised metal grates, and the industrial skeletons that keep New York from falling over.
ASICS splits this tribute into two distinct cultural anchors:
The GEL-NYC 2.0 is destined to be a major silhouette this year. While the industry panics about what comes after the "dad shoe" trend, HAL STUDIOS quietly perfected the "Material Intelligence" game. The texture play here is visceral. You aren't just getting mesh and suede; you're getting a patina that looks better the more you beat them up on actual pavement. ASICS delivers the tech, but the Australian design house brings the soul. The "Signature Series" framework moves away from disposable fashion and toward something permanent. It’s "blue collar luxury", shoes designed to look right against a steel beam or a gallery wall.
Although there isn’t any official release date yet, the HAL Studios x ASICS GEL-NYC 2.0 are expected to drop any time this month, priced at around £165.
