With the environmental effect fashion is having on the ecosphere becoming more apparent with each year, companies are now doubling down on their efforts to become more eco-friendly. One of the companies involved is none other than Balenciaga, a high-fashion leader that has previously championed environmental efforts with carbon removal projects and the sponsorship of agroforestry projects around the world.
Now, the brand looks to embrace the second-hand movement and the re-ownership of its products with a fresh resell initiative. By encouraging second-hand buying, Balenciaga increases the longevity of its products and subsequently, its audience will buy less, reducing production in the long run.
Taking part in the Balenciaga resell initiative is simple. Customers will drop items off at selected stores, where the item will then be picked up for documentation, authentication, product photography, pricing and eventually listing. Once purchased, the seller will be compensated with either money or Balenciaga store credit with a 20% greater payout.
As of today, products can be dropped off at selected stores, or alternatively, a scheduled pick-up service can be booked via Balenciaga's website. In other fashion news, Off-White channels the golden era of skateboarding with this latest capsule.
