Balenciaga x Yeezy have come together for a tribute tee following the tragic news on April 9th of DMX's death. DMX who's real name was Earl Simmons, sadly passed away following a heart attack and time on life support earlier this month.
With the news of his passing, Balenciaga and Kanye West quickly produced the unexpected partnership to co-occur with the memorial service that took place at The Barclays Centre in Brooklyn last weekend.
Designed by Demna Gvasalia and commissioned by Yeezy, the T-shirt itself arrives in a long-sleeved design with a christ-like depiction of the late rapper taking centre-stage on the chest with a "RIP" overhead. Alongside this DMX's birthdate is featured across the right sleeve, with his date of passing accompanying it on the left. On the rear, the words "In Loving Memory" sit isolated on the lower back.
The limited run of Balenciaga x Yeezy T-Shirts reportedly sold out within 24 hours and generated $1 million in sales after being priced at $200 a pop. With all the proceeds set to go to DMX's family, the significance of this gesture won't soon be forgotten. In other Yeezy news, the Yeezy May & June 2021 line-up has just been unveiled!
