Here at The Sole Supplier we’re more than excited to announce the launch of a brand-new content series titled Community Curated, where the star of the show is you! Our loyal community is easily one of the most integral parts of TSS, so it only made sense that we created a dedicated content series that shines the light on some of our members! So without further ado, let’s jump into the very first edition of Community Curated!
Yo guys, I go by the name of Marks (@markmyfits). I've been collecting sneakers since 2014 and I've been a part of The Sole Supplier Exchange group since 2017. Growing up, I got into sneakers through 'own clothes day' at school. Coming into school on those days I was always keen to see what sneaker people had on-foot and that inspired me to wear heat too. Throughout school my interest grew and I started grabbing steals on a few classic pairs such as the Air Max 97 EM 600K, Air Max 97 Red Hyperfuse and even Air Max 94s. Once I started uni my collection really began to grow fast and hasn’t slowed down since.
First it would be the Union x Air Jordan 1 Blue Toe. I slept on this release back in 2018 because it dropped on my birthday. A couple of months after I saw some on-foot shots of the black toe pair and it caught me off guard. I realised it was a pair I needed in my collection, so I picked up a pair in March 2019. Ever since then the blue toe had been growing on me. After a couple of months spent thinking about them I picked up a pair last month to complete the Union x Air Jordan 1 set. I can say whole heartedly that this is my favourite Nike x Jordan collaboration due to the concept, the intricate details and the execution - they’re truly a work of art.
Next up it’s the Off White x Jordan 4. Not much to say on this shoe other than it’s great. It took the sneaker world by storm which was no surprise. They are simply beautiful and I had to acquire a pair, they’re easily my shoe of the year for 2020.
Finally I’m going for the New Balance 990v5. I've been pretty oblivious to New Balance over the years but during the summer of 2020 I was looking to pick up an everyday functional shoe. I was gearing towards Ultra Boost but I heard rumours that the 990 is the go to for every day comfort. I tried them on in the NB flagship store in London and eventually picked up a black pair. Safe to say it's one of the best purchases I’ve made this year (not just sneakers) and I wear them most days. The majority of the time when I’m going out I debate which pair to wear but usually end up picking the 990s just for the comfort and simplicity.
