A Japanese discount retailer has been promoting fake Crocs across stores in the US. Chain store, Daiso, has been selling counterfeit Crocs in multiple stores across the country, causing confusion amongst Crocs fans. These clogs appear to be exact replicas of the world-famous Croc, though one significant difference is the price. Daiso has been selling the knock-off versions under labels such as "Casual Sandals for Men" and "Lined Casual Clog".
This is nothing new for Crocs. The brand sued 21 other companies last year over counterfeit claims, and having seen a surge in sales over the pandemic, it's easy to see why the brand is protective over its legendary clog product.
In the lawsuit, Crocs representatives said that Daiso only sought “to free-ride and trade on the significant goodwill developed by Crocs through its innovative footwear".
