British designer Craig Green has put out some wild footwear over the years, often reworking classic adidas silhouettes thanks to his partnership with the 3-Stripes. Having debuted barely recognisable Stan Smiths at the back of end of last year, to introducing more wearable versions like the Scuba Stan, Green’s themes of deconstruction and rebuilding are ever-present in his work, but never more so than in these new, barely-there adidas x Craig Green sandals.
Revealed in the designer’s latest collection, the sandals push the boundaries of what can usually be considered footwear. Looking at them, you can see that they’re built pretty much entirely from thin foam, and feature a strappy, cut-out design that leaves a fair bit of the foot exposed. The sole also doesn’t appear to have much to it, again appearing just to be a single bit of foam that runs underfoot.
Right now, there’s no release info surrounding these adidas x Craig Green sandals, but given the lack of practicality, it could be that they were just built for the runway. While we wait to find out, the world of weird footwear continues to grow with MSCHF’s latest release.
