It's almost here folks, this year's Air Max Day celebrations are about to begin! The annual event, which first started back in 2014, puts even more attention on Nike's most iconic design. Visible AIR was first imagined by Tinker Hatfield, the Nike designer who brought us such classics as the Air Max 1 and Air Max 90. It was during a trip to the Centre Pompidou in Paris where Tinker had a light bulb moment; what if a sneaker could reveal the inner workings of the shoe? Just like the inside-out architecture of the Pompidou, Tinker pioneered a design that put Nike's once hidden cushioning to the forefront.
More than three decades after the debut styles and Nike's Air Max is still just as popular as ever. Of course, this is a year-round obsession but for once a year, there's even more love around this timeless range. Tomorrow, a whole batch of Air Max silhouettes arrive to celebrate both old and new designs. Here we take a look at the ones not to miss including the contemporary Air Max 2090 and that reinvention of the rare atmos x Air Max 90!
What better way to honour one of the all time greatest Air Max trainers than launching a completely modernised version! As a homage to the Air Max 90, which is now over 30 years old, the Air Max 2090 is both contemporary and iconic all at once. A metallic coated midsole and lightweight synthetic uppers give this pair a space-age look. That said, there are some unmistakable features from the AM90, such as that overlay across the heel.

The original atmos x Air Max 90 "Duck Camo" featured on our guide of the 25 best Air Max 90s of all time! It launched back in 2013, one of many rare collaborations that still resells for over £1,200! Thankfully, there's a more affordable option hitting retailers tomorrow and it's just as striking. With a similar camo patter and vibrant hits of infrared you just know these won't be on shelves for long!

This winning style is joined by two others as part the "Medal" Pack. It's not easy picking a favourite especially given each one features patent leather uppers. Made to stand out, these aren't for the faint-hearted. The look is balanced out by a contrasting midsole but everything else opts for that full on luxurious vibe!

Not only are Nike about to debut the Air Max 2090 but they're also launching an atmos-inspired colourway. Just like the Air Max 90 above, this contemporary model features camo patterning. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without the hits of infrared which make an appearance to the midsole surround and heel overlay.

The final instalment of the Air Max 2090 debut line-up could also be the most underrated! This pair, which almost went under the radar, features icy blue uppers with matching clear coloured overlays. The radical styling is matched too by an expertly crafted upper. That integrated lacing system promises even more comfort and a new Air Max bubble is said to provide even more cushioning.
