Updated 2nd December, 2025: The official photos of the Nardwuar x Nike SB Dunk Low Red Blue have just landed. These trainers will hit skate shops on 6th December, followed by SNKRS on the 9th. They'll be retailing for £120. Fancy a pair? Hit the bell icon!
Original story: Word on the street is that Nike SB are gearing up for a rather intriguing collaboration, this time with the one and only Nardwuar the Human Serviette. For those not in the know, Nardwuar's a Canadian music journalist, a proper character known for his deep dives and surprise questions. Vancouver even gave him his own day back in 2019, so this sneaker tribute feels rather fitting.
Now, before we get into the nitty gritty, a quick heads up to grab The Sole Supplier app for all the latest sneaker drop info.
The news first broke via Sneaker Files and has since been backed up by a couple of other sources. It seems Nike SB are continuing their trend of nodding to popular culture, think the Jarritos and Ben and Jerry's drops. Not to mention Nicole Hause's collaborative SB which arrived bearing a plaid Swoosh nods to the Scottish-born pattern.
While we haven't seen a proper in hand shot yet, the colourway is slated as "University Red/Black/Yellow Strike/Deep Royal Blue". We expect the upper to feature Nardwuar's signature tartan pattern. Interestingly, Nardwuar himself has a bit of history with the Swoosh, having been spotted in the "Tartan" Air Max Plus from 2018, a shoe he was gifted by his friend Marcus.
While people may think his affinity for tartan stems from a love for the punk scene (which may be the case), the actual reason behind his uniform is a funny one. When interviewing Sebastian Bach from Skid Row, the artist ended up stealing Nardwuar's toque (skull cap), leaving the Canadian hat-less. Nardwuar's mum Olga then gave him the now-infamous golf hat she picked up from Scotland, birthing the signature tartan look that he still carries today. His tartan pants were then gifted to him by a friend who picked them up during his visit to Japan. Although Nardwuar's tartan titan status wasn't achieved overnight, it is certainly a pattern that he has authentically made his own.
Over the past year, Nike has been hinting at Dunk releases inspired by this very music scene. We've already seen the "CBGB" Dunk Low, which paid homage to that legendary New York venue.
Just recently, on 9th May 2025, Nike SB posted an interview on Instagram featuring Paul Rodriguez chatting with Nardwuar, which many are taking as a little teaser for this collaboration. Should we expect more interviews with Nike-sponsored skateboarders? Does Nardwuar getting his own collaboration mean he's techincally a signature athlete? Clearly the Swoosh thinks he is, but we're down to see The Human Serviette crank out a few tre flips!
We should get the full story behind this link up as we head towards the end of the year. These Nardwuar Dunks are pencilled in for a release around 10th November, likely hitting Nike.com and select skate shops, with a price point around £120. Give that notification bell a whack, and we'll let you know the moment these become available.
