Article updated 26/12/23: In somewhat of a Christmas miracle, official images of the NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Drive "Black/White" have now landed. Backing up on-foot photos that arrived in August, we now see an official look at Drake's latest upcoming silhouette, and it's fair to say this one has the potential to be a big release.
Sporting a finish so dark that it looks like you haven't unlocked this character yet, the NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Drive "Black/White" is about as stealthy as it gets. Atop a mix of black synthetic, suede and leather, we see contrast arrive in the form of white laces, mini Swoosh logos and a robust midsole. Expected to launch in a "Triple White" colourway, how long will it be before we see this pair's counterpart?
No official release date has been given just yet, so be sure to keep it locked in right here for all the latest. Carry on reading for the original article below.
Updated 24/8/23: After rumours first surfaced in May this year, it looks like Drake really is set to bring back the Air Zoom Drive. Continuing on his impressive run of NOCTA releases, the Canadian artist looks to have readied a black-and-white version of the 90s classic, which comes peppered with the sublabel’s branding hits by way of confirmation. These hit the tongue, heel and outsole, leaving the rest of the NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Drive to don a stealthy black upper with white accents.
As it stands, the Certified Lover Boy is still yet to confirm the release, but going by the momentum behind NOCTA right now (and with a new series of Top Boy landing soon) we expect the rest of this year’s releases to come thick and fast. Until then, hit the release reminder button below to set your notifications ahead of the drop, and check out the original article below for more info on the silhouette.
Original Article: Drake seems to be subject to some special treatment by Nike, which is pretty fair game considering how much influence the man wields. While most collaborators find themselves limited to a few, safe silhouettes, Drizzy seems to have his pick of the bunch. NOCTA’s Hot Step Air Terra was a new design, inspired by the retro Terra model, and now the artist looks to be diving into the archives for inspiration once more, as he’s rumoured to be resurrecting the Swoosh’s Air Zoom Drive silhouette.
The Nike Air Zoom Drive was originally launched in 1999 as part of Nike’s Alpha Project, and was designed by Sergio Lozano, who also designed the Air Max 95. The Alpha Project saw the Swoosh co-creating models with athletes in order to craft the very best in performance-driven sneakers, pushing new boundaries in both aesthetics and tech.
Now, Drake’s NOCTA version is expected to arrive in two pared-back colourways, with simple black and white makeups leading the rumours. It’s also predicted that the shoe will follow most of the style’s original design language and tooling, albeit with some NOCTA branding thrown on to signify the collaboration.
Rumour has it that the NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Drive is set to arrive towards the end of 2023, so be sure to stay locked to The Sole Supplier for more info and imagery as it comes in.
