While Drôle de Monsieur translates to "Funny Gentleman," we can assure you there was nothing funny about Iron Mike Tyson during his heyday. As one of the most legendary boxers to grace the ring, Iron Mike is now looking to explore a new venture as he becomes the face of the French streetwear imprint, Drôle de Monsieur.
Announced yesterday via the label's Instagram, Drôle de Monsieur founders Maxime and Dany claim that Mike embodies the spirit of the DDM brand, making him the perfect fit for the role.
The caption of the post reads, "Growing up in Brownsville is not a privilege. Opportunities for success are rare. But with hard work, determination and a strong will, you can create your own destiny. This is Mike Tyson’s story. Born in one of the roughest neighbourhoods of New York, after years of commitment, he became the youngest heavyweight world champion in the history of boxing in 1986 at only 20 years old."
Hailing from Dijon, France, Drôle de Monsieur remains defiantly committed to signifying the estrangement from the country's Paris capital, almost embodying Mike Tyson's fearless attitude. While the collaboration between the duo is somewhat unexpected, we're looking forward to seeing what comes next out of the Iron Mike and DDM partnership.
In other fashion news, Stüssy x Mountain Hardwear come together for a collaborative capsule.
