At the tail end of 2020, Jerry Lorenzo shook the industry to its core by unveiling that he was officially leaving Nike and joining Team adidas. A partnership that absolutely nobody saw coming, sneakerheads and streetwear enthusiasts from across the globe impatiently waited to see what was in-store for 2021.
Strangely enough, the American fashion designer never even spoke about the collaboration last year, in fact, it wouldn't be until December 22nd - exactly one year after the announcement - that he would be seen rocking the first Fear Of God x adidas piece during a Lakers vs Suns game. Fast forward one month and it looks like Lorenzo is ready to unveil it all - and here's everything that we know so far!
Design
At this moment in time, we've only seen three pieces from the hotly anticipated collaboration, including an oversized hoodie, a crewneck sweater, and a mock neck. Dipped in a seasonal soft yellow tone, co-branded detailing graces the front chest in a bold blue hue, while additional Trefoil motifs make their way to the sleeves to cement the collab. These pieces were officially previewed at the latest INNERSECT exhibition in Shanghai which celebrates the modernism of Fear Of God alongside the rich heritage behind the Three Stripes.
While other items have yet to be revealed, we can expect a whole series of luxury athleisurewear which keeps in line with ESSENTIALS' current aesthetic. In fact, when the partnership was first announced, we were told that it would fall under the brand new Fear Of God Athletics line. This means we can expect a vast range of sporting goods, including blank T-Shirts, mesh shorts, and a collection of footwear options that we're the most excited about. Rumour has it that there will also be a pair of slides to rival the Yeezy Slide, though this remains to be seen.

Price
When it comes to Fear Of God, you can expect the price tag to be on the higher end of things. To put this into perspective, we see the FOG x adi collection sitting in between ESSENTIALS and the FOG luxury mainline, so a classic hoodie could start from £120, sweaters could be around £100, while tracksuits could be £110 a pop. It's worth noting that these are just rough predictions, so these numbers will most likely change when the range actually releases later this year.
As for sneakers, one thing that we've learned from Jerry's partnership with Nike is that he'll probably release a few silhouettes that will cost from £100 to £180 just like his Air Skylon II. He'll then drop his signature model that will probably set you back over £300 - a strategy similar to what he did with the Air Fear Of God. This will be the pair that everyone will want in their collection, so be prepared for resell prices to skyrocket as soon as it officially launches.
Release Date
Now for that all-important release info. To be honest, we have no idea when the Fear Of God x adidas collection will release, but unlike 2021 when all we heard was radio silence, Jerry Lorenzo has actually confirmed that the coveted capsule will definitely land later in 2022. Judging from the pale yellow pieces that were unveiled at the INNERSECT exhibition this month, we assume that the first drop will be scheduled for around June or July.
This collaboration was described as a "long-term partnership" when it was first announced in 2020, so expect to see quite a few releases within the coming months.
