The Nike Air Max 90 has been a staple silhouette in our rotations for over 30 years. Having seen legendary colourways such as the 2005 "Bacon" to the OG "Infrared", and collaborations with the likes of Off-White and KAWS, the Air Max 90 has always been, and remains to this day, a hot commodity.
Whilst the AM90 has been remixed plenty of times - most recently the sustainable Terrascapes spring to mind - the Air Max 90 has now been deconstructed and given a DIY-like aesthetic ready for summer 2022. Titled the Air Max 90 Futura, the chunky body still houses the visible Air technology unit in the midsole, as well as possessing a grippy waffle outsole, but it adds extra panelling and a rustic, futuristic feel to the classic sneaker.
The women's-exclusive Nike Air Max 90 Futura Grey Pastel is the latest colourway that's caught our eye. Constructed using a mixture of premium materials, this pastel Air Max 90 Futura sees a translucent pink outsole, similar to that of the Terrascape's, appear in the classic waffle design, whilst the white midsole melts into a grey colouring around the Air bubble.
Above, the mudguard comes in a grey suede, with pastel green patches dispersed across the upper. The Nike Swooshes on the medial and lateral sidewall provide the deconstructed look, with the material extending further than the stitching, whilst additional panelling around the eyelets only add to this design further.
