It’s another Dunk drop – but while we’ve seen a surge of college-style colourways and modern renditions of old-school styles as of late, this time, Nike are keeping us on our toes (quite literally). A sneaker that fuses retro with reformation, get you a shoe that can do both with the upcoming Nike Dunk Low Flip The Old School release.
When the Dunk was originally introduced in 1985 by design legend Peter Moore, we saw famous renditions like ‘Michigan’, ‘Syracuse’ and ‘Kentucky’ become staple choices among the basketball community. Jump forward to 1999 and Nike add a new successful colourway into the mix with the launch of their ‘City Attack’ pack.
Similarly to the Dunk High Varsity Purple launch at the end of last year, this new Low rendition bears instant resemblance to that purple and white colour-blocking effect as seen in the original 1999 release.
But while the colourway may be familiar, the delivery of these colours come reversed on each shoe, while the materials also appear fresh via a mix of leather and ostrich leather overlays. This 2021 rendition has also been given a gold upgrade on the tongue tab and to really spice things up, the iconic Swoosh logo appears flipped on the left shoe.
Unlike the mismatched laces that we love to sport on a Dunk, the sole unit comes with a purple and white dual-toned approach on both shoes, offering extreme traction for shootin’ hoops.
Just like the ‘Keep ‘Em Fresh’ Air Force 1 Low launch, these new Lows will also be wrapped in tissue paper covered with pencilled illustrations, as a nod to the original college colours campaign. You’ll also spot these graphics on the insole, for a touch of nostalgia each time you step out.
It’ll come as no surprise by now that the drop of these Nike Dunk Low Purple White will be crazy popular, so stay locked into The Sole Supplier for all your tips on how to cop. Whilst we’re on Dunk heat, take a look at How To Cop The Nike Dunk Low SP ‘College Navy’ Dropping Soon.
