Here's What Sneakerheads Want to See in the Future of Yeezy

Earlier this week, Kanye West took to the wonderful world of Twitter to tease a bunch of upcoming Yeezys. From the 500 High all the way to the 700 V1, he pretty much revealed that hundreds of colourways were in the works. But is this what sneakerheads really want?

Right after these shots made their way online, we asked our followers over on Twitter what they would like to see in the future for Yeezy, and the results were pretty shocking to say the least. While Ye's partnership with adidas is now more hyped than ever, how long is this really going to last if things continue as they are now? Check out the results down below!

Out of the thousands of people who took part in our poll, the majority of sneakerheads think that Kanye should cut back on the releases. Coming together at over 37%, many of you thought that too many pairs were dropping within a short amount of time.

According to @noiisserpmii, "Yeezys havent been fun since 2017. Too many similar colorways, V2 is played out. Too many releases. U can grab about 10 V2 that are all way too similar. Its like 1 hot shoe for 15 meh colorways."

We can definitely see where this statement is coming from. Even though we're only half way through the year, Ye has already released over twenty different pairs, not taking into account the kids and toddlers sizes and reflective options. With only four months left until the end of 2020, rumour has it that over 10 have still to release including the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 "Eliada" and the Yeezy Boost 380 "Onyx", and that's a pretty big amount considering only 9 dropped throughout the entire year of 2018.

Next stop, over 27% of you want Kanye to introduce all-new silhouettes. As you can see from the photo that he shared over the weekend, the majority of upcoming releases build on already existing models, bar the 450 Slide, the 1050 Boot, and the unreleased clog that was unveiled as part of Yeezy Season 8.

The last time we got a brand new silhouette was back in June with the Yeezy Foam RNNR, but even still, there was simply no hype surrounding this drop due to the fact that it had already leaked during the previous summer and that it was only available to those residing in the States. The same thing can be said about the Yeezy QNTM as well which made its grand debut during All Star Weekend in Chicago

While it's all well and good to drop new silos, @alvinSeven77 mentioned that the design language needs a revamp by saying "Less bulbous, more angular." We recently wrote about the Ye-volution of sneaker design that explores this in much greater detail.

On the other side of the spectrum, 25% of you who took part in the Twitter poll want Kanye to release more colourways. Recently, West has been dropping a ton of creamy and earthy tones. While these palettes are extremely versatile, sneakerheads want pairs that are insanely unique in their own right.

If you look at some of the most expensive colourways from the past few years, you'll find that the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 "Synth" has the highest resale value of all the 350 V2s. Not only was it exclusive to Asia, its pastel pink palette also played a huge role in it being as hyped as it is.

You'll also find that the Yeezy 700 "Wave Runner" continues to be one of the more popular 700s even after three years - and that's no coincidence. Unlike anything we've seen before, this uniqueness is extremely sought after, so we're not surprised that a quarter of you want this to happen.

And last but not least, less than 10% of you are happy with how it is now. To put this into context, 90% of sneakerheads aren't content with the current Yeezy climate and would like it to change. This is a drastic amount and it says a lot about how the industry has transformed over the last few years.

When Kanye stepped out in his first adidas shoe back in 2015, the hype was genuinely surreal. Never before had we seen a single sneaker gain so much media coverage, and if they want to recapture this magic then they should probably look into exploring the other three options before it's too late.
