Having first joined forces with Nike back in 2020, Colombian singer J Balvin has been steadily making his way through the Jordan brand line-up. Naturally, that means for his third collaboration, the Prince of Reggaeton will be dropping an Air Jordan 3 - here named after Medellín sunsets.
Now if you’ve been keeping up with sneaker releases this year, you’ll be well aware that the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Medellín Sunset” is set to be a big one. Whether you’re a fan of the artist himself, or you just can’t resist an AJ3, all signs point to this being a tricky cop, but if you’re looking to pick up a pair, then we’ve got your back. We’ve compiled this guide to act as your source on how to cop the style.
The J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Medllín Sunset” is scheduled to drop on the 23rd of September.
Whereas J Balvin’s previous Jordans have been super loud, the AJ3 opts for a subtler approach. Here, he sticks to white tumbled leather uppers, tonal elephant print panelling, and tasteful golden-yellow accents, while leaving the multicoloured heel counters to do the talking. This rainbow-toned make-up was inspired by the sunsets over Balvin’s hometown of Medellín, but there is no doubt that gradient tones are certainly having a moment within footwear right now.
Like the artist’s previous collabs, the “Medellín Sunset” AJ3 is expected to come in a full-family size run, but it’s not been confirmed yet as to whether that will include Grade School sizing. As far as Air Jordan 3s go, most people find they fit true to size, but if you need a little extra help, then check out our Air Jordan 3 size guide.
Judging by the hype behind this pair, we can assume that most drops will take place via a raffle system. We’re still waiting to find out exactly which retailers will be getting the pair, but you can stay up to date with all the latest raffles by heading over to the product page and hitting the raffle tab. Entering sneaker raffles is pretty simple, but if you’re new to the game, then you can check out how to enter sneaker raffles through our guide.
There is a small chance that the Air Jordan 3 x J Balvin “Medellín Sunset” could launch on a FCFS basis at some retailers, but so far none have confirmed whether this will be the case. If this is your preferred way of copping then be sure to hit the release reminder links throughout this article to stay up to date with any drops that might occur on the day, and we’ll be sure to update you if hear more.
As usual, the easiest way to cop a Jordan release is usually via the Swoosh’s own SNKRS app. If you’ve not used SNKRS before, then it couldn’t be more simple. Make sure you download it on your phone’s app store, as it's worth creating your profile and adding your details ahead of time (no one needs extra stress on a drop day). Once the product has been loaded onto the site, you’ll be able to set a reminder ahead of the drop, but seasoned SNKRS users will already know that this tends to take place at 8 a.m. on the day of the launch.
As soon as the window opens, you’ll have a short amount of time to enter the SNKRS raffle. Then, if you’re successful in your W, you’ll be greeted with the famous GOT ‘EM screen. Make sure you tag us if you share this on your social channels so that we can celebrate with you!
Some retailers will also be running in-store raffles alongside their online ones, so if you live local to a store you may stand a better chance of getting a pair this way. This time around, retailers have also been using the raffle as a force for good - Footpatrol, for example, has implemented a food drive in order for people to enter. If you're planning on entering Footpatrol's in-store raffle, make sure to bring in at least one in-date tin of food to donate before the raffle closes at 3pm on the 22nd of September.
If you don’t manage to secure your size straight away, then you’ll definitely have another opportunity to grab a pair when they hit the resale market. By using our very own resale platform, Sole Market, you can cop from 100’s of verified sellers, knowing that your pair is safe and subject to our own in-house legit check system, and guaranteed speedy shipping.
So, now you know exactly how and where to get your hands on the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Medellín Sunset”. Of course, a lot can change between now and the drop, so be sure to set those release reminders and stay locked to The Sole Supplier channels for all the latest info, plus any restocks that might spring up afterwards. Good luck!
