The Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 is quite possibly one of the most controversial AF1 collaborations ever made. One of the final projects that Virgil Abloh worked on before his untimely passing in November, the sneaker world completely froze over when this was collection was showcased at the Louis Vuitton SS22 Men's Collection runway six months ago. Once a humble basketball shoe, the Air Force 1 has now united three of the biggest players in the fashion industry.
According to our sources, the LV AF1 was originally supposed to release at the end of 2021. However, out of respect for Abloh and his family, it has been delayed until the start of 2022. At this point it's hard to figure out how many colourways are set to launch. During the Parisian fashion house's Spring/Summer 2022 show, we feasted our eyes on at least ten pairs but even more have popped up since.
This is the perfect time to release the hotly anticipated range considering that 2022 marks 40 years since the Bruce Kilgore-designed Nike silhouette made its debut. The collection will boast Lows, Mids, and Highs and will feature some major influences from Off-White. While we probably won't be seeing any zip-ties, quoted text, technical verbiage, and deconstruction plays a huge role on each colourway.
Arriving in a special edition shoebox, the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collaboration is set to drop very soon. Expected to sell out within seconds even with its potentially gigantic price tag, if you want a pair in your rotation this season we've compiled a few tips and tricks on how you can maximise your chances of getting a W!
If you need the Louis Vuitton Air Force 1 in your collection, the first thing that you need to do is follow us over on Twitter. By following @thesolesupplier, we'll update you on the latest news surrounding the release, while @thesolerestocks will keep you locked in with direct links and potential restock information as well.
Raffles are also essential as well. At this moment in time none of them have been officially announced yet, but once they do you'll find them all right here on The Sole Supplier. You should expect a pretty limited selection though considering these AF1s are of holy grail status, so to increase your chances you can try and enter with multiple accounts. With that said, it's worth noting that some retailers will take money off you first, so considering these will probably have a pretty hefty retail price make sure you have enough to survive before you started entering.
It's hard to figure out how exactly the LV AF1 collab will launch, but if it's anything like Virgil Abloh's Dunk Low collection from 2021 it may drop on a random allocation basis. If you cast your mind back to the "Dear Summer" range, a few lucky sneakerheads were selected to gain access to each colourway over the course of a week. Some were a lot more limited than others, but the release was more-or-less random. Once chosen, you'll get a limited time to make your purchase. If you want to increase your chances of getting a W, you can also borrow a friend or family member's phone to try your luck!
A top tip for SNKRS is to have all your payment and address info saved and verified. Better yet, let your bank know that it's actually you who's making the transaction just so they don't put it on hold. SNKRS also gives better chances to those who use their app more, so if you haven't already make sure you check out some of the interactive content and watch their videos that they have on the platform. This month it was announced that 200 pairs of LV's AF1 will go on sale through Sotheby's from January 26th to February 8th. Bids will start from a cool $2,000 and the sizes available range from 5 all the way to 18. It's worth noting that this probably isn't the best way to secure a pair as you'll need very deep pockets if you're going to go down this route, with that said, the reason why it's so expensive is because the proceeds will go towards Abloh's scholarship fund for Black fashion students.
Unveiled in July 2020, the "Post-Modern" Scholarship Fund aims to support the next generation of Black fashion industry leaders. To date, twenty "Post-Modern" Scholars have received $7,500 college scholarship awards through the Fund. The next class of Scholars will be announced very soon.
It goes without saying that when the Air Force 1 Louis Vuittons drop later this season, they'll be available through Louis Vuitton themselves. Just like the Dior x Air Jordan 1 launch, you'll probably have to enter a raffle system via the LV website where you may be allocated apair. Unlike conventional retailers, you'll have to collect your AF1 in person if you do get a W. If you don't live near a Louis store, chances are a high end boutique near you will be holding their very own draw so make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for more info on these as it develops.
If that doesn't work out, then you've got two more options. You can either go on StockX and get a pair sent straight to your door, or head on over to The Sole Supplier's dedicated Buy & Sell Group on Facebook where you can buy, sell, and even exchange trainers for the pair you want. You probably won't get them for retail here but we've got some pretty good and honest members so don't be surprised if you do.
And that's that! If you follow every single one of these steps, you've got a pretty good chance of copping the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collaboration later this season! Make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for your best chance to cop, and if you're not sure what size to get, take a look at our handy size guide here!
