Another year has come to a close, and just about everyone has started to debate their sneaker of the year lists. Whilst we love a high-heat release over here at The Sole Supplier, we often feel that some really great GRs get overlooked as we head into the final months - and their easy accessibility and high availability are usually what lands these on our best-seller lists. So, to round off 2022, we’ve taken a deep dive into the data to pinpoint exactly which sneaker styles were the most in demand over the past 12 months.
Kicking things off (and to no-ones surprise) is the Nike Air Force 1: a shoe that celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. Bruce Kilgore’s basketball-turned-lifestyle silhouette will always be a classic, and the numbers prove that we’re not the only ones that think so. The classic “Triple White” colourway took first prize, but to celebrate the sneaker’s ongoing success we’d like to highlight this special-edition anniversary pair - the perfect way to commemorate an icon.
Managing to take second place is the Nike Dunk, which is now much more widely available than it was back in 2021. The Dunk has now been released in countless colourways, yet remains one of the most sought-after sneakers in the Swoosh brand’s roster. If you’re yet to get your hands on a pair, we’d suggest opting for a style in the model’s classic two-tone look - this burgundy and white pair is super wearable.
Finally, never underestimate the Air Max Plus, or TN. The souped-up style comes infused with Nike’s Tuned Air tech for a comfy ride, while stealthy-looking uppers give the pair a certain rebellious edge. TPU cages add extra design details: for those that are new to shoe, you might be surprised to know that they’re inspired by whale tails, palm trees and ocean waves - a far cry from the city roads that the TN usually calls home.
Did you cop any of these styles this year? Which was your favourite silhouette of the past 12 months? Let us know, and don't forget to check out the rest of the range over at Nike.
