As December creeps around, we’re always looking forward to seeing what the next year of sneakers may bring. In our excitement, we find ourselves asking all of the important questions: What trends will we see? Which silhouettes will be the focus? Which releases will be at the top of our list?
Thankfully, we’re one step closer to knowing the answers, as Jordan Brand has finally given us an official look at the start of its 2023 line-up. Kicking things off with a small selection of seriously strong styles, these Jordans have all been confirmed as launching within the next few months - so here’s what to expect from the imprint.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “True Blue” first leaked back in September, and sneakerheads have been buzzing ever since. Jordan Brand has dipped into its archive for this pair, which is inspired by Tinker Hatfield’s AJ3 “True Blue”. Though it leaves out a few details, the thought behind the AJ1’s colour-blocking is clear to see, as a palette of white, blue and “Cement Grey” nods to its muse. From here, Jordan 1 branding hits appear in all the usual places, proving that the colour scheme looks just as at home on this pair, too. Expected to launch in January, you won’t have to wait too long for these, so hit the release reminder button above to set your notification.
The Air Jordan 2 became the preferred canvas for collaboration in 2021, and fans can expect to see the colourways continue into next year as well. Though it's not everyone’s favourite J (Jordan himself was rumoured to have been ‘underwhelmed’ with the design) the AJ2 line-up has gone from strength to strength recently, and this super-clean pair might just win a few fans round. A mix of textured and smooth white leather makes up the majority of the base, while “Lucky Green” accents add a pop of colour around the panels, inner lining and heels. These are set to launch in February, so be sure to keep it locked for more release info.
The Craft series has gained quite the following over its past few iterations, as its premium detailing and luxurious materials have added some seriously special touches to sneakerheads’ favourite styles. The next silhouette to receive the treatment is the AJ4, and this pair has been generating excitement ever since early mock-ups leaked in November. A combination of soft suede and supple leather makes up the uppers, while beige accents elevate the Jordan branding against muted grey-blue tones. The model’s netted panels have also been swapped out in favour of textured suede, which gives the pair an opulent touch. Look for these to drop in February, and hit the notification button above for your best chance of copping them.
As far as iconic colourways go, UNC sneakers are always some of the most sought-after, and the brand has once again looked to Jordan’s alma mater for this pair. This time, the “University Blue” hue takes over the majority of the sneaker, only giving way to a black sole unit, translucent caging and a silver reflective tongue. This pair also comes with themed heel patches, and ‘heart’ and ‘soul’ detailing on the inside of the tongues. Expected to release in March, be sure to hit the link if these are on your radar.
Finally, one of the lesser-appreciated silhouettes in the Jordan family, the Air Jordan 14 has had a makeover this season. The “Metallic Silver” AJ 14 sees the style look to the future, as silver uppers give it a hugely futuristic look and feel, and bright red accents add to its boldness. Jordan branding then hits the heel tabs, heels and insoles, switching between embossed branding, a jewelled badge and a flat Jumpman logo respectively. The style is due to arrive on March 3rd, but as with all release dates, this is subject to change.
Don’t see anything that immediately grabs your eye here? Don’t panic. Keen Jordan fans will notice that there are a couple of silhouettes amiss, but there are definitely more pairs waiting in the wings to be confirmed. Right now, we’re yet to see any officially unveiled Air Jordan 3s, but with an anniversary year on the horizon we can’t imagine it’ll be long before these start to surface, and it's very unlikely the brand will be slowing down much on the 1s and 4s either. Until then, be sure to keep it locked to The Sole Supplier for all the latest sneaker news, as we’ll be the first to let you know when we hear more!
Up next, these are the Dunks that are set to drop over the coming months!
