It's no secret that Kanye West has beef with Nike. Back in 2009, the power duo teamed up for a selection of insanely hyped sneakers. After four years, however, things got a little sour between the two, with Ye clearly unhappy with his lack of creative control, moving swiftly over to adidas in 2013. In an unexpected turn of events, the American rapper, businessman, and presidential hopeful has taken to Twitter to praise the Swoosh, more specifically the Nike ISPA Road Warrior.
One of the Beaverton brand's most experimental silhouettes to date, it's part of their extra rugged "Improvise, Scavenge, Protect and Adapt" line. Featuring a multi-textured upper that's locked down by a range of rubberised straps, an extremely conceptual midsole sits down below infused with Zoom Air for comfort and cushioning that's literally been taken to new heights.
A two-toe design features up front as a nod to traditional Japanese jika-tabi shoes that were invented in the early 20th century, and this is one of the features that made Mr West love this particular model so much, taking him back to his childhood when he grew up with anime.
Kanye finishes his appreciation post with "So cool Nike. keep innovating. The world needs it. Great job."
While this doesn't spell an Air Yeezy collaboration anytime soon, it's interesting to see him so openly applaud a rival shoe company considering his allegiance with the Three Stripes.
