In what might come as a surprise to many, it’s now being reported that Kobe Bryant’s estate will not be renewing the late basketball star’s deal with Nike. The two parties have worked seamlessly together since 2003 and have launched plenty of high-heat releases over the years, but now it seems that the end is nigh for the legendary partnership.
Bryant first signed to adidas when he began his professional career back in 1996 and eventually moved to Nike in 2003, where the Lakers star remained until his passing in January 2020. While the Swoosh brand has several Kobe releases planned for later on this year, it is likely that these will be the final Nike Kobe releases for the foreseeable future.
The rumours have now also been confirmed by Nike, after a statement released read “Kobe Bryant was an important part of Nike’s deep connection to consumers. He pushed us and made everyone around him better. Though our contractual relationship has ended, he remains a deeply loved member of the Nike family.” Make sure to keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest footwear news and updates and while you’re here check out the latest BAPE STA releases!
