2022 is a pretty big year for the Nike Air Force 1. Celebrating its massive 40th birthday, the basketball shoe has become a cultural phenomenon over the past four decades, so much so that we recently published a piece on how it became the sneaker of New York City. To commemorate the AF1's anniversary, the Beaverton brand will be launching a barrage of hyped collaborations, including the Stüssy x Nike Air Force 1 Mid that we first caught a glimpse of back in December.
The last time the Shawn Stussy-helmed label worked on the AF1 was all the way back in 2020 when they dropped two hemp-crafted pairs. Fast forward almost two years, and they're back to doing their thing on the legendary b-ball shoe. Taking on the mid-top variant this time, we're getting serious Dunk High "Panda" vibes from these. Made from premium leather, this collab works on top of a clean "Sail" base while black pebbled panels make their way throughout the upper. The classic toebox perforations have been replaced with the iconic interlocking "S" motif, and this emblem extends to the heel as well, where it's lasered onto a steel badge.
"Stüssy" is finely embroidered onto the midfoot strap, while a Nike Swoosh shoots across the laterals and medials. Co-branded detailing graces the tongue tag to cement the coveted collaboration, and this all comes packaged within a special edition shoebox.
According to our sources, the Stussy x Nike Air Force 1 Mid "Black White" will land sometime this summer and will release alongside a whole capsule of apparel. Early leaks suggest that the pieces will feature peace-and-love iconography throughout, and will drop in a selection of monochromatic shades. Make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for more news as it develops, and in related news, a Stüssy x Converse Chuck 70 is reportedly in the works!
