Venture capital-backed art collective MSCHF is infamous for its goofy footwear (Big Red Boots, anyone?) but it might just have outdone itself once again with its latest release. Ever one for experimentation, the company’s latest creation will have you seeing double - and that’s because this time they’ve fused two shoes into one.
Dubbed the “BWD” (Backwards) Shoe, this new pair is one of MSCHF’s craziest creations yet. Resembling a chunky skate shoe in stature, it somehow manages to sit somewhere between a sneaker and a sandal, and can be worn either way to create two different footwear options. Wear it with the heel facing the back for an open-toed sneaker-sandal option, or turn it around for what appears to be more of a mule. And, if that wasn’t outlandish enough, the BWD Shoe arrives in a pretty loud colour scheme, with bright pops of red, white and hi-vis detailing all fighting for attention.
While the Big Red Boots remain one of the most outrageous footwear choices of all time, it's safe to say that the BWD Shoe isn’t exactly far behind. Expect to see a lot more crazy ideas from MSCHF over the coming months, and in the meantime check out this $6000 destroyed denim outfit.
