New Balance already boasts a strong hand, producing on American soil for years. Unlike the likes of adidas and Nike, NB has a solid line of US made trainers, now bolstered by a fresh trio of 993 colourways forming the 'Heritage Collection'.
In recent times, New Balance has primarily reserved the 993 silhouette for its most prestigious partnerships, evident in its latest releases developed in collaboration with the likes of JJJJound, Teddy Santis, KITH, and Joe Freshgoods. While these maintained the 'Made In USA' stamp, along with the premium materials and price that implies, this 'Heritage Collection' delivers the first proper in line releases we've seen in a good while, likely welcome news for many New Balance devotees who rate this silhouette amongst their favourites.
The 993 model, which first appeared in 2008, incorporates design elements from both the 991 and 992, presenting a more streamlined and relaxed construction across its upper. Arriving today, the Made in USA edition is available in a trio of classic hues: Covert Green/Grey, Incense/Grey, and White/Grey. This neutral palette suits the understated design well, which does away with the busy synthetic overlays found on other early noughties designs. The 993 incorporates the brand's well regarded ABZORB cushioning technology in its sole unit, presented with a dual tone aesthetic.
The collection’s title is proudly printed inside each of these colourways, but they genuinely feel like a core set of options. Note the consistent steely mesh underlay across all three pairs, tying into New Balance’s ongoing “Grey Days” celebration, which champions the brand’s signature tones. The key difference between them lies in the shade used for the pigskin overlays: “Incense” beige, “Covert Green” olive, and “Reflection” light grey. The latter pair also swaps the leather underlays for similar lighter shades.

This release coincides with another recently unveiled trio of 1906Rs, which arrived in a similar palette of grey, tan, and olive brown. However, for that more performance focused design, the label opted for a monochromatic treatment, highlighting the model’s futuristic appeal. New Balance's Made in USA range uses top notch materials crafted in American factories, prioritising quality and workmanship. Alongside the Made in USA lines, the footwear brand also offers strong Made in UK and Made in Japan collections.
The New Balance Made in USA 993 'Heritage Collection' is slated for release on the 4th of August. To give yourself the best chance of securing a pair at retail, make sure you hit that 'Notify me' button.
