Following on from the back of its earnings call last month, Nike announced that it will be relaunching its Kobe brand. Now, as Mamba Day (and its subsequent relaunch) approaches, it's fair to say that things are heating up, as sneaker fans have been taking to social media to share their excitement.
The Kobe brand first debuted in 2003, and the shoes quickly became go-to styles for basketball players across the globe. However, after Kobe Bryant’s untimely death back in 2020, the line was discontinued, which given the range’s popularity with players, actually led to a shortage of larger styles by 2021. Thankfully, Nike struck a new partnership with Kobe’s estate in 2022, and has since worked with his wife Vanessa Bryant to bring the range back. Since then, a steady stream of new Kobe releases has surfaced, including the “Mambacita Sweet 16” in honour of his daughter Gigi, the Kobe 8 Protro "Triple White" and the “Reverse Grinch” for the holiday season.
The return of the Kobe brand is set for Mamba Day - the 24th of August - so expect plenty more releases to be revealed over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, stay locked to The Sole Supplier for all the latest sneaker news, and keep your eyes peel for the Air Jordan 11 "DMP" launching soon.
