After unveiling plans to bring .SWOOSH creations to EA Sports games, Nike has now just announced the launch of a new groundbreaking project with Epic Games. Entitled 'Airphoria,' this digital project will see Epic Games' worldwide hit Fortnite play host to a brand new Air Max-themed realm, complete with an immersive and cutting-edge design.
Airphoria is a project that truly realises the potential and intersection between the gaming and cultural world. The platform will enable players and groups of friends to explore the Air Max-themed universe and even embark on the ultimate digital sneaker hunt. “Airphoria represents a new, immersive experience for Nike as it amplifies its efforts in gaming and virtual products," said Ron Faris, VP/GM of Nike Virtual Studios.
“As digital and physical worlds become more seamless across the products and experiences we offer, we’re always seeking authentic ways to deepen our connection with fans, expand access points to Nike across our digital ecosystem and inspire a love of sport and play. What’s more, Nike is one of the first brands to use Epic Games’ Unreal Editor for Fortnite to build Airphoria, paving the way for a continued partnership that will further unlock the future of gaming,” he continued.
For gamers looking to get involved in the project, The Airphoria Island is available now, from the 20th of June to the 27th. Check out the trailer below! In other industry news, Supreme announces a significant loss in its end-of-year financial report.
