With the silhouette’s 40th anniversary taking place this year, the amount of times we’ve seen the Air Force 1 get reimagined this year seems endless. This newest variation, the Air Force 1 Low “White Bow” seems to take on more of an avant-garde approach though, and looks like something you’d expect to see from a Comme des Garçons collab. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the show-stopping sneaker.
We’re going to say it – there's a lot going on here. Firstly, the “White Bow” AF1’s upper has been made over with pleated white fabrics instead of the silhouette’s usual leather construction, making them a lot less practical than your standard pair of Air Force. The leather panelling does appear on the Nike Swoosh though, which sweeps across the side of the sneaker in its usual fashion.
Aside from the cottage-core inspired uppers, the main detail is the huge oversized bow that sits at the top of the lace unit. This does look to be removeable, and the pair also comes with standard flat laces if you’re after a more toned-down look. The Air Force 1 “White Bow” comes finished with the AF1’s classic white sole, but a new hourglass-shaped logo appears to be embroidered on the shoe’s lateral heels.
The “White Bow” Air Force 1 Low is certainly a dressy pair, and definitely not a shoe you could wear every day. However, if you’re thinking of holding a sneakerhead-themed wedding, or need a dressy option for when you ditch your heels at the end of a night out, then they could be seen to be an obvious choice, we guess. Either way, the pair are expected to drop in the next few weeks, so hit the purple button to set your release reminders, and be sure to download our app to stay up to date with all the latest sneaker news.
