Nike Launches Vaporfly 4 and Streakfly 2: The Next Chapter in Racing Technology

Nike continues to redefine the future of running innovation with the launch of the Vaporfly 4 and Streakfly 2, two groundbreaking racing shoes engineered to help runners achieve peak performance. Powered by Nike's renowned speed system, both models combine ZoomX foam with a carbon fibre Flyplate to deliver unparalleled energy return and propulsion. With these latest additions, Nike Racing solidifies its position as a leader in high performance running footwear.

The Vaporfly 4 represents the lightest and most advanced iteration of the Vaporfly franchise. Building on the innovations that ignited the super shoe revolution eight years ago, this model is an ideal choice for distances ranging from 5Ks to marathons. Developed with input from elite athletes like Joshua Cheptegei and Mohammed Ahmed, the Vaporfly 4 strikes a perfect balance between stability and a softer ride.

Key advancements include an updated Flyplate curvature designed to improve foot and ankle leverage, alongside a lightweight ZoomX foam midsole that enhances energy return. The shoe is 10% lighter than the Vaporfly 3 and 20 grams lighter than the original Vaporfly (2017), thanks to strategic reductions in foam and optimised weight distribution for a snug, precise fit.

For runners targeting shorter distances, Nike introduces the Streakfly 2, a revolutionary update to its lightweight road racing line. Designed specifically for the mile, 5K, and 10K, the Streakfly 2 is the first in its series to feature a full length Flyplate. This innovation, combined with its track spike inspired design and aggressive 4mm heel to toe offset, delivers explosive speed and control.

The ZoomX midsole ensures flexibility and durability without compromising its featherlight build. At just 126 grams; 40 grams lighter than its predecessor, the Streakfly 2 is meticulously crafted for pure speed.

Nike athletes have praised its versatility and performance. Jessica Hull highlighted how the Streakfly 2 allows her to tackle all out intervals and tempo runs without relying on spikes, keeping her legs fresh for subsequent training.
