Last week we reported the shocking news that one of Nike’s senior management team (Ann Hebert, Vice President and General Manager of North America) was fired over family ties with her son Joe, a notorious reseller. Since then there’s been plenty of rumours and theories, with some even claiming that SNKRS wins might become more common, although we’re not too sure on that one.
What we do know however is that the Swoosh brand has now officially announced a replacement for Ann Hebert. Sarah Mensah who formerly acted as the Vice President and General Manager of Asia and Latin America will be taking on Hebert’s old role over in North America. Before Mensah worked for Nike it’s also worth noting that she was once the COO (Chief Operating Officer) of the Portland Trailblazers NBA team,
Amy Montagne, another Nike management employee, will take on Mensah’s old role and the two will be reporting directly to Heidi O’Neill, the president of consumer and marketplace over at the Oregon-based brand.
While we’re still skeptical if these changes will directly affect our chances of copping high-heat from Nike, it’s most definitely a step in the right direction to combat the reselling culture that is ever-present in the world of sneakers. In the meantime, keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest and make sure to check out the upcoming Air Jordan 1 “Patina"!
