Updated 18th February, 2025: The V5 RNR have just been released, priced at £79.99, available in four colours.
Finally, a silhouette from the Beaverton brand that brings the heat without burning a hole in your pocket. With the V5 RNR, Nike’s stepping into the cost conscious tech runner game with this sneaker, dropping just in time to upgrade your Spring 2025 stride.
If you've shopped for trainers recently, you’ve likely noticed how pricey they can get; especially since most sneaker enthusiasts don’t stop at just one pair. This is particularly true for Nike, which has long been criticised for neglecting the “under £100” price range.
While trending models like the Zoom Vomero 5 hold their own against competitors such as the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 and New Balance 1906R in the £150 range, Nike has lagged in offering budget friendly options. We previously discussed how this pricing gap has impacted Nike's market share, allowing brands like adidas, ASICS, and New Balance to gain ground this year.
But it seems like Nike has finally taken note. Enter the Nike V5 RNR, a sneaker inspired by the most hyped silhouettes but without the hefty price tag. The V5 RNR is basically the Zoom Vomero 5’s doppelgänger. From the airy mesh base to the smooth leather overlays and that unmistakable Swoosh, it’s a dead ringer. But here’s the thing: not everyone wants to drop £145 on a pair of kicks.
The brand-new Nike V5 RNR ‘White’ colourway features shiny, goldtoned ‘Parachute Beige’ accents and takes cues not just from the Vomero 5 but also from its rivals in the market. Underfoot, you’ll find a cushy foam midsole for cloud like comfort, paired with a durable black rubber outsole for grip and stability.
So, how much will this new release cost? To put things in perspective, the Zoom Vomero 5 starts at £145. The V5 RNR, on the other hand, is priced at a much more accessible £80; almost half the cost. This positions it to compete directly with budget friendly models like the GEL-1130 and New Balance 530, offering style and quality without breaking the bank.
