In an announcement that was recently made via the hugely-popular SNKRS app, it seems that Nike is planning to run a “CO.JP Tournament” event, that will pit sneakers from the highly-coveted against each other in a fight for the crown. If you’re unfamiliar with CO.JP, it stands for “Concept Japan” and was a Japan-exclusive line of releases from Nike Sportswear that launched throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. All of these pairs have long since held grail status amongst collectors and sneakerheads alike.
The tournament is set to go live via the SNKRS app soon and will include 16 different sneakers, with users voting for which pair they wish to proceed to the next round. Stand out sneakers from the pack include the Nike Air Max 1 B (2002), the Nike Dunk Low “Un-Tiffany (2006) and the atmos x Nike Air Force 1 Low (2001), but you can find the full list of sneakers releasing below.
It’s unclear as of yet if the winning sneaker will be put into production, although if we were to hazard a guess we’d imagine this might be where Nike is heading with the idea.
