After announcing a shuffle in leadership on its quest for innovation, it seems Nike has taken its first steps towards furthering its technological apparel initiative. Now set to accompany Dri-Fit, Pro, Sphere, Storm-Fit and Therma-Fit in its performance line, Nike will introduce its new Aerogami technology later in July.
By the sounds of things, Aerogami is set to be one of Nike's most forward-thinking technological creations when it comes to clothing. According to the Swoosh brand, “Aerogami is our latest example of Nike’s culture of innovation focused on solving the timeless needs of runners,” notes Jahan Behbahany, the Senior Apparel Innovation Product Manager behind the line.
Aerogami itself is a venting system that creates super breathable gear, complete with on-demand ventilation. Naturally, the gear itself is designed for running, but we would imagine that soon enough the technology will apply to a range of sports.
“We know feeling too warm, uncomfortable and distracted while wearing a running jacket is a common challenge many runners face, so we’ve obsessed developing an innovative solution that gives them increased breathability without compromising style and protection. What’s great about this technology is not only can the athlete feel the benefit, but they can also see it.”
The Women's Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket is set to launch in the next month, but as for men's styles, we will have to wait until around the fall for a release. In other fashion news, Palace x WWE suplexes streetwear norms.
