New Balance’s 2002R Mule caused quite a stir when it first showed up on the sneaker scene earlier this year, but the style seems to have quite literally found its feet, as more colourways have been lined up for the latter half of 2022. Capitalising on the clogcore trend, the shoes are set to arrive in a number of finishes, so here’s what to expect from the upcoming pairs.
Sitting somewhere between a sneaker and slide, the 2002R Mule takes the top off the brand’s recently revived 2002R model to make the perfect house shoe. Other features include a laceless design at the top of the clog for easy wear and a soft lining for added comfort. This all sits atop the same ABZORB sole unit that sits underneath its fully intact counterpart, meaning the comfort levels and sizing remains consistent.
There are nine colourways set to drop in total, ranging from the brand’s signature grey tones to pastel pinks, to autumn-ready neutrals. Some of our favourite upcoming pairs include the “Brown” colourway, which featured a chocolate-toned corduroy upper, and the “Grey/Navy”, which sees the pair arrive in leather for a more practical option to suit the more temperamental weather ahead. If you’re looking for a pair that’ll go with everything, the NB 2002R Mule is set to arrive in a super-dark, almost black “Grey” colourway, as well as a lighter “Cream” option that’ll look great with any minimalist ‘fit.
Look for the pairs to arrive over the coming months, and hit the release reminders to get notified about when your fave colourway will drop. In the meantime, check out Teddy Santis' latest efforts on the New Balance 990.
