It’s official, Pharrell is teaming up with adidas for a new Samba Colours capsule. The news broke via Pharrell’s Instagram, with the artist revealing a spiral of shoes containing nine different colourways. While this number pales in comparison to the 50 different shades that launched as part of his 2015 “Supercolour” Pack, the focus has been placed on quality over quantity.
The collaboration between Humanrace and adidas Originals is sure to trigger a sense of nostalgia for many, while building on the steadily increasing hype surrounding the Samba. This isn’t the first time that the two have worked on the archival silhouette either, releasing a “Beige Black” and “Night Grey” towards the end of 2022, both of which went on to sell out.
Certain colours such as the “Humanrace Green” iteration have already been announced as a friends & family exclusive, meaning select colourways will be more limited than others. However, every edition is crafted from a premium leather, as the duo worked with the first ever design-led tannery, ECCO leathers, to ensure each pair arrived with a high quality finish. With this new emphasis on craftsmanship, we’re also expecting the pack to arrive with a higher price point, especially considering the new premium box and leather lace options.
The red, pink, yellow, orange and lilac editions will be pre-launching exclusively on April 28th at @somethinginthewater, with a global launch on May 6th via the humanrace.com and adidas website (although highly likely to drop via CONFIRMED). The remaining charcoal, white and terracotta colourways are yet to receive a release date, so expect more information in the upcoming weeks.
